We Share One Life, We Are One Life
To say nothing is holy is to say everything is holy. There is no difference between the ordinary and the holy. To see this absolutely means relatively to sacralize our smallest acts of goodwill, life itself. Holiness becomes for holiness is, and we share in the joy of the creativity of Grace, even as we are intricately part of it, not apart from it.

About one thousand years ago, a sage felt drawn to a construction site. He watched from the edge of a clearing in the forest, while workers bent over their individual tasks.
Curiosity urged the sage to approach one worker, whom he asked, "What are you doing, my good man?" The worker looked up briefly and went back to his work, saying curtly, "I'm working."
The sage was not satisfied with the answer. He approached a second worker. He asked the same question, "What are you doing, my good man?" "You can see I'm breaking stones," replied the man.
The sage was a man of determination; he was not leaving without an answer that felt right to him. He walked over to a third worker, and he posed the same question, "What are you doing, my good man?" "I'm building a temple," spoke this man smilingly.
The incident opened the eyes of the sage, for all three of the workers were breaking boulders into smaller stones and for the same edifice. But they were not doing the same work.

To sacralize our lives, we have shaped within us a vision of our lives as a sacred edifice under construction and all we do as holy, simply for it is what we do in Grace and by Grace. Our lives and work do not become holy, they are already holy. Our summons is to appreciate this and join in communion with it. To be in communion with Grace is to be in communion with the working of Grace. The nature of Grace is to create; even our communion with Grace is the act of Grace, sustained by Grace moment-by-moment in time, though arising from the timeless being of Grace before act or creation. The essential Quality of all things arises from the Timeless, and, so, the work is to give shape to the Timeless within time, so that in time can reflect back and witness to that Timeless.
